About

A bridge between people, cultures & cities.

Founded by Afghan communities and young professionals, SBS 104.6 FM broadcasts non-profit, community-first radio across northeastern Afghanistan.

Who we are

Shahr ba Shahr (SBS) 104.6 FM is a non-profit Afghan radio station with studios and offices in Charikar and Kabul. Our station was founded by Afghan communities and young professionals dedicated to promoting the growth and development of Afghanistan through open communication and collaboration.

What we believe

We believe that communication and dialogue are key to promoting peace and unity — within Afghanistan and beyond. Our platform connects people from different backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles both within Afghanistan and with cities around the world.

Our studio & signal

Our facilities are equipped with two state-of-the-art research and development (R&D) units with libraries. Our transmitter in Charikar broadcasts on 104.6 FM and reaches listeners across Parwan, Kapisa, Panjshir, and parts of Kabul, Kunar and Logar Provinces. Because Afghanistan's terrain is mountainous rather than flat, our on-the-ground coverage reflects the shape of the valleys and passes our signal can reach — not a perfect circle.

Our promise

We are committed to a freer flow of information that is credible, accurate, and high quality. Every hour on air is researched, contextualized, and produced with the same care we ask of ourselves as citizens: honesty, curiosity, and respect for the listener.
